LONDON – 30 January 2023 – Europe’s leader in sustainable investing, ETF Partners, today announces the new hire of Venture Partner, Kimmo Korpela. With wide-ranging experience across the venture capital space, as well as 14 years spent in his current role as the Vice President of environmental technology innovators Vaisala, Kimmo adds investing expertise across a myriad of fields and in a variety of roles.
The coming year heralds exciting opportunities for young companies to harness a thriving talent pool and adapt with flexibility to changing circumstances. The need for sustainable innovation is ever-present and with the guiding hand of seasoned investors, these startups can deliver long term results. ETF Partners’ portfolio has illustrated the potential for promising disruptors to succeed, posting 58% growth in 2022, thanks to their timely solutions for urgent problems such as the fuel crisis and the need for greater decarbonisation and reliable sustainability data.
The climate crisis continues to be one of the most pressing issues facing the world and as governments grapple with structural changes in the energy, transport, and agricultural sectors to move further towards sustainable solutions for the future, there is a huge opportunity for innovative organisations to drive change. In the ETF Partners portfolio, for instance, companies such as DeepSea are utilising AI technology to improve decarbonisation in logistics, while circular fashion startup Fairly Made is tracking sustainability data for an industry on the cusp of a green revolution, and Phenix is finding solutions to fight food waste.
The right investment can move the needle towards meaningful change and Kimmo Korpela’s appointment as Venture Partner at ETF Partners spells the chance to develop new avenues for growth, based on his targeted expertise.
Kimmo Korpela comments: “I am thrilled to become part of the ETF Partners team and to join a company that has been leading the way in sustainability investing. We currently find ourselves at a juncture that is ripe for profitable investments that can also help to change the way we live and care for the planet. As fossil fuels transition towards renewables, there is huge potential in companies managing the software for energy transition both on supply and demand sides, as well as improving data analysis and system connectivity to enable resource optimization for example within food production and mobility . I am looking forward to focusing on these areas and helping ETF Partners to expand their footprint across my region of Finland and Northern Europe.”
ETF Partners Managing Partner Patrick Sheehan adds: “We are delighted to have Kimmo join ETF Partners and to add to our team with his decades of expertise across the venture capital space. He has already identified several exciting areas to focus on and ways that we can make the most of the current economic climate to invest towards a long-term, sustainable future. His enthusiasm and energy for talent encapsulates our values and we are looking forward to having his insights and guiding hand throughout our portfolio.”
